Teams and groups of HPLS members are able to use either the HPLS 15-seater mini-bus, or the 8-seater people carrier for non-operational use as follows;

• 1. PSUK approved sport events* 

• 2. Other HPLS supported and approved club group or team activities** 

 

They cannot be used for private, shift or department social event purposes. To enquire about the eligibility of your event or activity email in the first instance at hpls@hampshire.police.uk   

 

Netley HQ also have a 17-seater mini-bus which can be used if available, however the HPLS will first allocate the 15-seater and only request the Netley bus if ours is already booked. (Note HPLS mini-bus is currently off the road)

 

Reception at Netley will refer any non-operational booking to HPLS for approval, should any request be made to them.

 

This booking policy is to ensure that we are always in compliance under our motor insurance policy and general permission for use of these vehicles.

Mini Bus - Drivers must be over 21 and have a driving licence including 'Cat D1 mini bus' which is normally included on full licences issued before 1.1.97, however licences issued after this date the driver must have passed a D1 PCV practical and theory driving test. At least 7 persons should be travelling in order to justify and authorise the use of this vehicle.

 

People Carrier - Max weight of 792kg total weight of persons and baggage and combination should not include this. As a guide this equates to 6 people with large bags / suitcases or 8 persons with only hand or no baggage.   The driver is responsible in law for ensuring the vehicle is not overweight.  This vehicle is not available for operational use.

*Note the use of hire cars for  official PSUK sport comps should only be used as a last resort when the above two options are not available or use of members own vehicles is not possible. Discuss with HPLS before considering this option and do not book any hire vehicle using the force procurement system without first contacting HPLS.

**Note HPLS can only approve a group activity when all involved are subscribing members. For most activities HPLS can provide additional financial support for the event. This shouldn't preclude some non-members from taking part, however subsidies are only available to HPLS members.  More details on request.
