The Hampshire Police Cricket section is alive and reasonably well, but ALWAYS looking for new blood (particularly YOUNG blood !!).
The Captain of the Force team is PS. 3173 Matt WAKE, currently stationed at Southampton Central and if anyone is interested in playing for the County team, please contact Matt.
Players should be of a reasonable Club League standard.
The team plays in the National PS UK Cup competition every season.
This is a 45 over knockout competition….this year we have drawn SURREY (away) to be played in May.
We also play a few friendly games…..this season we already have matches arranged against a strong Havant Wednesday CC (in May) and also the Mayor of Fareham's X1 (July).
Last year we played a friendly game vs. Wiltshire Police and, depending on any Cup success, we will probably be looking to play them again.
If anyone is interested in playing Force cricket please contact either Matt or myself. Further details on fixtures below.
Regards,
John Crabtree.
The fixtures for HCCC for the 2010 season are as follows.
Tuesday 18th May:- PAA cup match vs Surrey (away)
Wednesday 26th May:- Friendly vs Havant CC (away)
Monday 31st May:- 6 a side tournament @ Fawley CC
Tuesday 13th July:- Mayor of Fareham's 11 (away)
Surrey
This is a PAA fixture and as such if you are a member of the sports and social club you will get the day off work to play. This game is a priority for the section so please make every effort to make yourself available. The game will start at 1300 hours.
Havant
Last years friendly was a washout so we try again this season. This will be a competitive game against some excellent local club players. That said we will be well looked after and the game will be played in good spirit. This game will likely start at 1400 - 1430 hours and be 40 overs a side.
Fawley 6 a side
The likely format is:
- 1030 start
- Matches being played on 2 pitches simultaneously
- 12-16 teams, mini league and then knock out format
- 6 overs per innings, possibly 8 ball overs
- Opportunity to purchase a range of cuisine from a BBQ which will be in operation all day
- Assorted beverages
- Entry fee £60 per team (consideration to be given re funding from S&SC)
- Prize for winners/runners up
Mayor of Fareham
This will be an evening fixture. I imagine 20 overs a side. Food and drink is provided by the Mayor after the game and this should be a very sociable fixture.
