Sport Section - Fishing (Boat)
The section competes in the PSUK South Eastern Region, fishing in matches against Kent, Sussex, Thames Valley, Surrey and City of London. These matches are fished from 2 boats with 4 members from each force fishing on each boat. We also have a PSUK Regional Championship match fished once a year out of various ports within our regional area (location dependant on which force is hosting), where all of the forces in the region fish against each other in one big match.
Once a year there is a PSUK National Boat Fishing Championship, which forces throughout the UK have to qualify to participate in. Hampshire have been regular participants in the PSUK National Championship for many years, gaining respectable placings nationally. In 2008 out of Weymouth, Hampshire were the National Champions, the following year in 2009 out of Penarth, South Wales, Hampshire came 4th nationally. In 2014 out of Plymouth, Devon, Hampshire came 3rd nationally, and last year 2015 out of Poole, Dorset, Hampshire again finished first and are the current PSUK National Boat Fishing Champions.
Hampshire are also invited to take part in other regions open championships. Hampshire previously finished second in the Avon and Somerset Open Championships.
The Boat matches are fished in a good friendly spirit but are competitive and Hampshire are regarded as one of the top teams in the country.
