Do you have a desire to get back on 2-wheels this spring and summer? We would like to try to help.  There are a number of initiatives we are looking at for this season and we hope we can appeal to a wide audience of members with all things cycles.  The below information may be of use.

Buying New

If you are looking at a new purchase, we have discounts at retailers including the best known supplier Halfords.  If you are after an electric bike we have a partnership with Eco Bike Company who have a vast range of bikes to suit all budgets.  (Search www.hplsoffers.org)

Buying Used

There are huge bargains to be had when getting a pre-loved bike, but please do your research first. There are some useful guides out there, such as this one from Bike Radar or this from Cycle UK.

Cycle 2 Work

For staff the force provides the C2W scheme enabling you to purchase a new bike at a big discount, via a salary sacrifice process using monthly payments. Full details are found on the force intranet.

Cycle Activities

If you are feeling a bit energetic, there are lots of organised cycling events detailed out HERE and you can request a subsidy if entering one.

​

Maybe you just want to enjoy some less arduous safe country leisure rides with friends and family? There are many sources of useful info to be found on established routes around Hampshire and elsewhere. Try this HERE. There are many more searchable on Google.

Set up a local group? This may be something you would like to organise. A local work based cycling group to get out on some nice routes during your down time would be a great thing to do. HPLS can assist with a mention in our newsletter or you may wish to use the new Viva Engage work chat system coming soon.

Cycle Sphere

East Hampshire residents can access a free cycle and e-cycle hire scheme, allowing you to enjoy the Whitehill and Bordon 7k Green Loop. Book your session HERE.  More details HERE.​

Cycle Navigation

There are many phone apps to use and a guide can be found HERE.  HPLS also have a bike nav that can be borrowed if you were attempting anything a bit more serious. See our Borrow Shop for more info.

Cycle Rental

We are in discussion with various rental sites to work with across Hampshire. We will post any agreed deals as we get them. If you have any of particular interest please let us know.

Competing Cycle Sports

Do you race cycles as a sport? There are Police Sport events in the UK and Europe which HPLS can support you to take part in. There is also the World Police Fire Games which has cycle events! Get in touch with us for more info.
